BOOK REVIEW "Sangeet Ratna:The Jewel of Music "- A Bio-discography. Mr. Michael Kinnear has published this book from Australia recently. Around 1973, Mr. Kinnear chanced to listen to Abdul Karim Khan's gramophone records and was fascinated with the music. He then decided to write a bio-discography of Karim Khan. This book is the outcome of painstaking research that continued for over thirty years. Khan Saheb Abdul Karim Khan (1873-1937) was a legendary Indian vocalist mp3 of 20th century. Born at village 'Kairana', in North India, Abdul Karim Khan learnt music from his father mp3 Kale Khan. He left his native place in 1890 and never returned. He spent his entire life in Maharashtra. Initially he served in Baroda State. He fled away with Tarabai Mane who belonged to royal family, and settled at Miraj in Maharashtra. He then established Music schools (Sangeet Vidyalayas) at Belgaum, Miraj, Pune and Bombay. He also pioneered in organizing ticketed shows of classical music that were mainly for collecting funds in aid of the schools that he had established. He also served in Mysore State where he was honored. This book traces back the life sketch of Karim Khan and his efforts in teaching, popularizing and research in Indian music. Half the book is devoted to his musical as well as personal life. His wife Tarabai Mane left him in 1922 and worked hard in setting up career of her five talented children viz. Abdul Rehman (Sureshbabu Mane), Champakali alias Champutai (Heerabai Barodekar), mp3 Gulab (Kamalabai Barodekar), Sakina alias Chottutai (Saraswati Mane {Rane}) and Abdul Hamid alias Papa (Krishnarao Mane). This was a big jolt to Karim Khan and although he continued his career, his music changed totally with pathos and became full of sorrow. He then married his disciple Bannubi Latkar and settled in Miraj. He passed away on a railway platform in 1937 while returning from a concert mp3 tour from South India. Other half of the book describes his gramophone records (discography). Khansaheb made recordings in two sessions - first in 1905 in Bombay at S. Rose & Co. - a place near present Rhythm House opposite Jehangir Art Gallery. He cut 32 songs for 90-150 seconds duration each and this singing is quite forceful and exhibits his skills at very young age. [About 22 songs were reissued by HMV in 1994 under 'Chairman's Choice' series]. He then refused all the offers for recording. In 1932, Bai Sunderabai persuaded mp3 him to cut records mp3 for German Odeon Company that was recording in Bombay. So, during 1932-36 he recorded over 25 songs of 4-5 minutes duration each. These included Classical, light Classical, Marathi Drama songs, Bhajans and Canarese songs and also Been playing records. An English translation was also published subsequently. However there was no book issued on his life, music and records. Khan Saheb's several records have been issued on LP's audiocassettes and on compact discs. Given that Callaway's sparknotes (NYSE: ELY ) six-month numbers are also greatly improved, the true P/E is likely even lower. It could easily rise above $10 by the end of the year.
Small Cap: Volcom (Nasdaq: sparknotes VLCM ) I've liked Volcom for a while now. Back in October 2008, I made what I thought was a strong case for buying its stock at the $10 level. It's up 42.7% since then, yet I know it can do more. It went public sparknotes June 30, 2005 , at $19 and closed its first day of trading up 41%. How much more it will rise is up for debate, since its operating margins have been halved sparknotes since 2005. Don't be alarmed. Despite a second quarter that only broke even on a 15% revenue gain, Volcom sparknotes management feel its short-term and long-term sparknotes plans are on target, and it's increasing market share. Its earnings' yield is 11.2% and return on capital 14.6%, sparknotes both very respectable, if not robust. At the end of the day, I'm betting that as it takes market share, operating sparknotes margins will begin to rise. It's not as cheap as it was in 2008, but it isn't expensive either. (We look at a retailer's inventory turnaround times, its receivables as well as its collection period, check out Measuring Company Efficiency .) Mid Cap: VF Corp. (NYSE: VFC ) I don't why, but I tend to view VF as a large cap, despite the fact its market cap is just $8.4 billion. I guess it's because it has so many well-known brands across several segments you just assume it's the case. In May, it announced an ambitious five-year business plan that will see revenues grow by 40% to $27 billion worldwide. Key to its growth will be the non-Nike brands like Converse, Hurley, Umbro and Cole Haan. With cash flow estimated to be $12 billion in 2015, it's repurchasing $5 billion in stock (Let's hope they're smart buyers) and using the remaining cash to acquire other brands where they can add value. It's beaten the S&P 500 in eight of the last 10 years, and is doing so again in 2010. Tuck this one in the drawer and forget about it. Bottom Line From golf to a more active clothing company (Volcom and VF) and finally all of the above in clothing and golf with Nike, this is just the start of a solid sports portfolio.

The cloud, web X.0, petaflops, yottabytes, dot-bombs, viral, BYOD, spam, and netiquette IT professionals have some interesting terms, ideas, and unwritten rules that may appear, to an outsider, as nothing more than geek speak , acronyms a language and a culture all their own. However, kosmo despite all the terms that are seemingly understood by only a chosen few, there are some terms that have been adopted by the general populous, and SDN is making its way toward inclusion on that list.
Software Defined Networking (a.k.a SDN) Most people know what the terms removable storage, virtualization, mobile, and social media mean. In IT, we refer to these as disruptive technologies, or technologies that, over time, will create new markets and make existing technologies and ways of doing things obsolete. Email and paperless technologies (social media, mobile phones, and virtualization) are all disruptive technologies that have happened in a short period of time and are being used by the general populous. Another technology about to emerge from the pipeline kosmo is software defined networking, or SDN in geek speak.
Most technology analysts agree that SDN will become both a disruptive technology and a technology used by the general populous. At a very high level, an SDN is a network that has the ability kosmo to dynamically configure itself to optimize a network user s experience. No, the network engineers of the world haven t been working on piecing together a sentient being in their spare time, rather they ve been listening to their users. kosmo In order to get a handle on how an SDN works, here are some high-level concepts one must understand in order to grasp the power of a SDN architecture: Data to be sent from one computer to another has information added to it so that it can traverse a network. One piece of data traversing a network can have three different headers added to it; each header contains information relevant to the communicating computers and different devices within a network. These headers kosmo are like a fingerprint and will uniquely identify source and destination computers and the application sending the data. Quality of Service (QoS) is a term used in networking to define how an administrator controls what network traffic is prioritized within a network. Currently, QoS runs local to a network device, and is applied to each device by a network engineer. Often times when QoS is applied in a large organization, there are unintended consequences for certain types of traffic. Most network engineers will attest that defining a good QoS strategy for a large network takes time to fine tune and is constantly changing as more types of traffic and devices are coming across a network. Network traffic needs to be handled differently based on the type of traffic kosmo it is. For instance, if someone is watching a video across a network, the time parameters for a streaming video are much tighter than they are when a user clicks a button to refresh their email. Even though we are dealing in just milliseconds, how the traffic is handled can greatly impact the user s experience on a network.
Now, let s pretend that I ve just hooked my computer kosmo up to a SDN and I try to communicate with another computer; we ll call them Host X. How is my experience going to be different than the last network that I was on? When my computer starts sending data to Host X, the SDN-capable kosmo networking device will read the headers off of my data and send that information to an SDN controller. The controller, acting like the brains kosmo of the SDN, is able to determine where my computer is on the network, where Host X is on the network, all the networking devices in between, and the application we re using. If there is a definition for said application in the controller, the controller can dynamically send out QoS statements to every network device between my computer and Host X. These statements will tell the networking devices how to prioritize the traffic kosmo to optimize kosmo the network user s experience.
Often times a network engineer s ability to please all the people all the time is compromised by lack of time and resources. When faced with the dilemma of making their bosses kosmo look good to company executives or having the general network user enjoy their experience, they side with the individual signing their paycheck. Often times, this results in executives disbelieving complaints about network issues and performance. (Why would they? They re having an optimized network experience.) SDN will allow network engineers to dynamically optimize their network environment so that everyone s experience kosmo is optimized.
While SDN standards, controllers, and hardware kosmo are seemingly slow to hit the market, smart decision makers are investing in network hardware companies that are currently selling open standards SDN-capable equipment. VLCM Holds Luncheon for 30 local CIOs | Utah Valley Business Blog
-On November 21 st , VLCM, a leading IT reseller headquartered minecraft wiki in Salt Lake City, UT, hosted a luncheon for 30 CIO Allstars that the company honored throughout the year for their contributions to the industry-
VLCM s 30 th Anniversary What started as an idea at the end of 2012 has finally come to a celebratory culmination. For thirty years, VLCM has been servicing the IT needs of thousands of customers throughout the Rocky Mountain West, and in the concluding months of last year, when the company discussed its thirtieth anniversary campaign for 2013, the idea for the CIO Allstars was born.
Starting in January of this year, VLCM highlighted three CIOs per month through ad campaigns with Utah Business Magazine, their own interview publications, minecraft wiki and through social media channels. November marked the final month of highlights, and on the 21 st of this month, VLCM held a celebratory luncheon for all thirty CIOs and their guests. The event was held in the main ballroom of Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City and was emceed by KSL s own Mike Headrick.
Each CIO was represented throughout the year with their own written interview, photos, and press through VLCM and Utah Business. At the event, the CIOs and their guests received a gourmet dinner, a set of CIO baseball cards (featuring individual cards profiling all thirty CIOs) and the opportunity to get those cards signed by each CIO.
Rich Linton, VLCM s founder and CEO, addressed the audience to start the proceedings, recounting the many years for which VLCM has been in business and how their relationship with the respective companies present was greatly appreciated. The event was accompanied by music, visual presentations, and introductory tidbits about each CIO.

WSCA Contract and VLCM On November 1 st , Canon U.S.A. was awarded the WSCA ( Western States Contract Alliance ) Copier Contract for the state of UT and has selected VLCM as a dealer for this exclusive agreement.
VLCM was added to this contract (contract number AR457) starting November 1 st , 2013. The contract is available to all state and local government entities including: public K-12 education, higher education, counties, cities, State of Utah departments, and so on. Though data security can be a complex and even complicated subject, having a keen awareness regarding the need of security in your infrastructure is the first place to start.
Too Much or Too Little Security is a very broad subject, but to keep it a reasonable topic of discussion, the basics need to be understood, and we need to differentiate between what s too much and what s too little. There are various forms of security that we all probably deal with on a regular basis, whether it s from an administration side or as the end user. Wireless, network, password, and file-level security all encompass a certain set of guidelines, the knowledge of which will help you apply security in a more efficient way. But even when you become versed in all that is needed to effectively implement security in your data protection, how do you know what and how much is necessary?
It would seem ideal if every company, entity, or individual could throw as much security as possible into any scenario and call it good. However, this is unreasonable 50 shades of grey and non-ideal, and there are at least two major reasons why. The first is the fact that security can become very expensive very fast. HP Networking VLCM s Trent Fausett, one of the company s network engineers, was present to offer valuable insight on HP networking and how VLCM can help any business implement HP s technologies seamlessly cromimi and cost effectively. Trent Eckman, sales rep for VLCM, arrived at Jordan Valley Medical Center February 19 th to undergo a procedure that was surprisingly easy. The simplicity and convenience of the heart screening was perhaps the most surprising aspect of his experience, musica and Trent offered to share it all in his own words both with us and Fox 13 News.
The thing they kept pushing is that you can keep your clothes on for the screening and that it only takes 5 minutes. It was really easy. You just lay down on the table and it lifts you up and puts you through the big machine that looks like a doughnut. Then they come out and tell you if your heart looks alright or not.
